Charging electric armor is an essential part of progression in IndustrialCraft 2. Unlike conventional armor, electric armor does not lose durability. Instead, it consumes stored EU to absorb damage and power special abilities. Once the internal battery is depleted, the armor must be recharged before it regains full functionality.
Charging methods
IndustrialCraft 2 provides several ways to recharge electric armor.
Energy Storage Units
The simplest method is to use an EU storage block.
Compatible charging devices include:
- BatBox;
- CESU;
- MFE;
- MFSU.
Open the storage unit's interface and place the armor piece into the charging slot. Each storage block can only charge armor up to its supported energy tier.
Chargepads
Chargepads automatically recharge equipped armor while the player stands on them.
Advantages include:
- no need to remove armor;
- all equipped armor pieces can charge simultaneously;
- tools held in the player's hand can also recharge.
Each Chargepad matches the charging tier of its corresponding Energy Storage Unit.
Armor charging tiers
Each electric armor set belongs to a specific energy tier.
Typical examples include:
- Nano Armor — HV (Tier 3), charged using an MFE or MFSU;
- Quantum Armor — EV (Tier 4), charged using an MFSU.
Attempting to charge armor in a storage unit below its required tier will not work.
Rechargeable armor
The following armor pieces require EU instead of durability:
- Nano Helmet;
- Nano Chestplate;
- Nano Leggings;
- Nano Boots;
- Quantum Helmet;
- Quantum Chestplate;
- Quantum Leggings;
- Quantum Boots;
- Electric Jetpack.
Portable charging
Portable charging items such as Charging Energy Crystals and Charging Lapotron Crystals automatically recharge compatible tools carried in the inventory, but they do **not** recharge armor while it is being worn. Equipped armor must instead be charged using storage blocks or Chargepads.
Tips
- Use Chargepads to recharge your armor automatically whenever you return to your base.
- Always recharge the complete armor set before long mining or exploration trips.
- Build an MFSU before crafting Quantum Armor, as it requires the highest charging tier.
- Keep your armor fully charged to maintain maximum protection and special abilities.
